FLIM TIME

A quaint little mistake, quite harmless: FLIM instead of FILM. Subtle, yet evocative of an age when sheep herders and boom operators discussed mountain winds and ambient noise pickup. Or maybe not.

Cinematic focusing: 35mm DOF adapter how-to

DOF adapter revision 4

Following up from my earlier post on 35mm DOF adapters, here’s the way I’ve built mine. Note that this is revision four, which uses much better materials, including a Thorlabs 2″ lens tube (my earlier designs were crudely made out of cardboard, file dividers and lots of electrical tape!)

This design borrows heavily from Richard Mellor’s.

Paradise Now: See. It. Now.

I’ve always found suicide bombing, no matter what the cause, to be amoral, reprehensible, and futile. While an equally deplorable oppression by Israel leads to Palestinian desperation, there’s no denying that Palestinians stand little chance in strengthening their case by feeding the media more news of “terrorist” activities.

Paradise Now (the first Palestinian film to be nominated for an Academy Award) delivers the different mindsets surrounding the issue of Palestinian suicide bombers without compromise.

Two liner movie reviews

I’ve yet to fill up the 600Gb of storage in my HTPC, but so far I have around fifty flicks from 11:14 to V for Vendetta.

Here’s a few one two liner reviews on some I’ve seen. Caveat emptor: pretty old stuff for all you savvy moviegoers.
