Previously known as Looking for Dilmun (taking its name from Bibby’s classic account of Gulf archaeological investigations), this blog is, dare I say, my own little examination of what matters to me. From business to literature, you’ll find an eclectic selection of posts and articles. Hello, I’m Hisham.

For the cynic, this site is like some blogs, a blatant self-serving attempt at ego-tripping. Egoistic ambitions aside, I’d say self-serving is good. Since when is voicing your thoughts and interacting with others a bad thing? Whether it’s a blog, forum or a gathering at a coffee shop, there is personal gain by all parties involved. Selfish this blog is not. Self-serving? Most definitely!

After completing university education in the UK in ‘99, I returned to my country Bahrain and currently work in a financial institution.

As for writing, or at least attempting it, I need to do it since bottling up all the words in my head would drive me nuts. Be it an op-ed piece or a short story; published or not, I enjoy writing and if I could only take one thing to a deserted island it’d be a notebook computer.

Besides writing, my other activities include reading all sorts of books, coffee binging, DV filmmaking, portfolio management and part-time business consulting. I also wrote a twice weekly business column for Bahrain’s Arabic daily Al-Wasat (الوسط) from 2005 – 2006.

I enjoy a good short story or novel as much as I enjoy a succinct business plan or economic analysis. The way I see it, business and art are equally rewarding and complementary endeavors. No progressive society can have one without the other.
