I must be doing something right!
By hisham
I got my first comment abuse (tasteless vulgarities and obscene language) last night, around seven in the evening. I didn’t imagine a personal attack on me so soon after starting this weblog, it’s only been a week. But then again, I didn’t expect to have over 400 visitors on my first week either, which is way more than I ever anticipated!
So, I guess I’m doing something right 🙂 And thank you to all who have so far visited, commented, subscribed and criticized on- and off-line. I hope you’ll continue to enjoy and benefit from your visits to Looking for Dilmun.
As for those comment abuse kiddies, I’d like to quote for them from none other than ‘AlÄ« ibn Abu TÌ£Älib (عليه السلام):
He who busies himself with things other than improvement of his own self becomes perplexed in darkness and entangled in ruin. His evil spirits immerse him deep in vices and make his bad actions seem handsome.
So, to those kids, I’d suggest taking up a new, constructive hobby. Perhaps even learning to focus your energies to help others? Perhaps go out there and _right a wrong? Perhaps?

In an email to a friend last night, I wrote:
…Oh, I got my first comment abuse today. hehe… I’m not sure why people do it. Maybe kids… They posted messages, abusive ones with lots of creative word usage and inferences. haha… the pity is, their IP address is from Bahrain. Go figure. My own countrymen. Oh well. What gives?…
But I do hope I erred out of haste in that email: In retrospect, I’d rather think the kids are not from Bahrain. I’d rather think they’re from nowhere.
